Life

Being-to-the-world, or life as it is, is prosophy’s immediate interest. A measureless one, to be sure, for there’s nothing else anywhere to be found in the whole universe, the A|D|R bond covering all that is the case. So the question is, what is prosophy’s interest about, specifically, given that the most specific here is the most general, the originarian, the ubiquitous, the presentarian? What substantiates prosophy’s claim to an approach of its own in face of evenience?

Inclusive attention

As a theory, general biography encompasses all evenience. But its terms are conceptual, nonrepresentational. They purposely avoid representing ‘something’, since before an event is actually lived nothing is there (or anything is). Even the most agreed-upon fact, word, or meaning can be reconceived, restructured, even reversed by the incoming act. What really matters is the sense of the act in the stream of evenience, a sense that issues from the event’s constitutive pattern, the conditional ties between its A|D|R facets.
An all-inclusive vision, prosophy does not solve nor console. To solve and soothe you need a paradigm, a system of beliefs, while prosophy offers none. This doesn’t mean that it is going to be of no use. Renouncing consolatory ideotics is not such a big loss, because what one gains in the bargain is a) a comprehensive attention to all solutions, b) the intellectual right to oppose exclusion, and c) the broadest freedom to insinuate possibilities.
— a) The kind of comprehension offered by prosophy is different from the one that anthropologists embody in concepts like culture or structure. A culture can only be understood from the inside and a structure can only be recognized from the outside. From the outside a culture appears mostly nonsensical, while from the inside a structure looks as the very bone of reality. Cultural and structural anthropologists strived to enlarge their overall vision of human being-to-the-world without an all-including theory of their own being-to-the-world, one that would effectively grant status to all conceptions and acts, with no need to translate, explain, or interpret them.
— b) There aren’t many non-excluding general theories, maybe none, apart from a nondescript universal love, because the common idea of a sound theory implies some defining principles and, as a result, an explicit or implicit pre-definition of human experience in order to fit those principles. As a matter of fact, however, an excluding theory looses its right to exclude other theories. It becomes partial to its own positions, a contender against what radically differs from it, and an obvious associate with what yields to its views. In short, it comes out as defensible as much as indefensible. On the contrary, prosophy earns the intellectual right to oppose exclusion in a theory because it opposes just the excluding claim, but for the rest it understands all particular conceptions as confined versions of the O|S|M pre-paradigm. Moreover, prosophy does not overcome excluding contentions by attacking them directly, but simply by showing that objectual, subjectual, and medial theories that ignore their common originarian three-rooted basis are equally plausible, all of them, and equally implausible.
— c) General biography allows for anything to take place in an event, because three impending infinites interlace at every act. So prosophy isn’t a theory in the usual sense, because it doesn’t explain anything in terms of this-has-to-be-so-and-so. To make up for it, prosophy is free to roam the fields of possibility. For any given horizon prosophy is apt to suggest a wider and deeper one.
These are, at least, the opportunities that seem to be available, generally speaking, once all consoling solution has been renounced in favor of the most inclusive vision conceivable. But will such an apparently blurred vision actually be useful in human affairs? Or, once charged with understanding real eveniences, will it undergo the loss of its originarian depth of horizon? Can anything in human life look sensible without a definite, specific paradigm of comprehension? [top]
